Empire Metals are actively consulting with local community members and stakeholders

We are committed to making positive social and economic contributions to the communities in which we operate.

Overview

Empire Metals are actively consulting with local community members and stakeholders through proactive engagement. We are committed to making positive social and economic contributions to the communities in which we operate.

The knowledge that we gain from our consultation is fundamental to the project development process, including option studies and risk assessments undertaken during the project planning and design stage.

We are committed to continuous consultation throughout mine life, from initial project planning to relinquishment.

How we engage

Empire seeks to engage early and openly with host communities, traditional owners, local government and other stakeholders in the areas where it operates. As projects advance, engagement typically includes:

  • Regular communication with local representatives to explain planned activities, timelines and potential impacts.
  • Opportunities for stakeholders to raise questions, concerns and suggestions, and receive timely responses.
  • Collaboration with landholders and Traditional Owners on access, heritage and land‑use considerations, in line with applicable laws and cultural protocols.

Managing impacts and creating benefits

As exploration and project development activities evolve, Empire focuses on managing potential impacts and supporting opportunities for local participation and benefit. Key areas of focus include:

  • Identifying and managing environmental, social and cultural risks associated with field activities, in line with regulatory requirements and good industry practice.
  • Using local suppliers and service providers where practicable, and supporting the development of local capabilities relevant to the company’s activities.
  • Respecting cultural heritage and working with Traditional Owners and relevant authorities to avoid and protect culturally significant sites.

Listening and responding

Feedback from communities and stakeholders is important to how Empire plans and conducts its work. The company aims to:

  • Maintain accessible channels through which stakeholders can provide feedback or lodge concerns about its activities.
  • Consider community input when making decisions that may affect local stakeholders, and explain how key concerns have been addressed.
  • Review and strengthen its approach to community engagement and social performance as projects progress and as stakeholder expectations evolve.
