How we intend to achieve our HSEC goals
Prevention of Injuries, Incidents, and Occupational Illnesses
We believe that all injuries, incidents and occupational illnesses are preventable and as such all employees, contractors and visitors are responsible for their own health and safety and those around them, whether on site or in the office. Detailed inductions and risk analysis provide the framework for safe operations at our sites and in our offices.
Compliance with Laws, Regulations & Empire Metals Standards
All Empire Metals entities are required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations for the jurisdictions where they work. We have clear health and safety expectations within our corporate governance structure and all employees are required to adhere to these corporate expectations.
Learning
We encourage learning from all incidents. Although we are promoting a zero-harm culture, we understand that incidents can happen, but will do all that we can to avoid repetition.
Culture and continual improvement
Empire promotes a reporting culture that encourages early identification of hazards and near misses, without fear of unfair blame. Open communication and visible leadership are used to reinforce the importance of health and safety at all times.
Leading and lagging indicators, such as training completion, inspections, incident rates and high potential events, are monitored and used to drive continual improvement in the company’s health and safety performance. As Empire grows and its projects mature, its health and safety management systems will continue to be strengthened in line with recognised industry good practice and stakeholder expectations.
Personal Responsibility
We all have a personal responsibility to prevent harm to ourselves and others whether in the office or on site. Safety and good health are equally important away from work and are encouraged.
